Steam and Cream and Dunster
We travel to Dunster, a picturesque town which is dominated by its castle for a lunch break. In the afternoon, we enjoy a ride on the scenic West Somerset Railway which runs beside the Quantock Hills for 23 miles, the longest steam heritage line in the country and a country branch line of the old Great Western Railway. We have included a delicious cream tea on board.
Sheppy’s Cider
We travel to Sheppy’s Cider near Taunton. We will be taken on foot to the apple orchards. The next stop is one of the vat houses where apple juice is fermented and our ciders are aged in oak and steel. Finally, we have the chance to experience the 200-year history of Sheppy’s Cider through the artefacts in the rural life museum. We enjoy a West Country Ploughman’s Lunch, with a piece of Cheddar Cheese, a slice of West country Gammon Ham with Mustard and Pickles; Coleslaw, Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber and Celery. Slices of Baguette & Butter (drinks extra).
Secret Somerset
A leisurely tour of the Somerset lanes via the Mendips to the attractive cathedral city of Wells and Glastonbury, renowned for its festival and Abbey, full of legends about King Arthur and the Holy Grail. Also, we visit Cheddar famous for its cheese and the spectacular gorge.
